  CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE

. Once Caesar walked a fair distance, Musashi couldn't help but deeply crease his brows and walk towards his large mansion. At first, he wanted to stay and celebrate with his granddaughter. However, after his conversation with Caesar, his mood turned sour, and he, by no means, felt celebratory.

His quickly departing figure was noticed by few, as most of the people were more focused on both Renee and Caesar. His missing presence didn't pique anyone's curiosity, and the tournament's aftermath continued without him.

After walking away from Musashi, Caesar soon arrived just a few feet away from Renee. She was having a conversation with a few of her relatively young maids, to which Caesar stood there quietly, not wanting to interrupt.

Alas, his prominent and eye-catching figure, was soon noticed by the maids' Renee was conversing with. They pointed in his direction with wide smiles while nudging Renee's shoulder, causing her to look over.

Once she caught sight of Caesar, her smile depleted a tad bit, and she walked over. Her hips swayed in a provocative manner as she walked, and once she was merely a breath away, she locked arms with Caesar and raised her head to observe his facial features.

"Your expression… are you going to do something immoral?" she asked with a whispered, she had been around Caesar for quite a while and knew his personality quite well. She could vaguely tell what mood he was in, just by his expression. However, his thoughts were far too complicated for her to fully understand him without him telling her.

Caesar squinted his eyes and leaned down in response; his smile gradually faded as he rubbed Renee's vibrant hair. He genuinely wanted to give Renee a more romantic proposal. However, he didn't have a ring, nor would he be able to stay much longer.

"When this is all over, I promise to give you a proper proposal and wedding…" Caesar whispered into her ear and held her tight. Although he wasn't much of a romantic individual, there was something about Renee that attracted him towards her. Almost similar to Elizabeth, but it would appear it only affected him and not others.

In response, Renee rolled her eyes, "you always try and evade my questions by trying to seduce me," she replied bitterly while trying to escape from his tight embrace. Unfortunately for her, Caesar didn't let her go, but instead, pecked her on the lips.

"I wasn't trying to evade your question, but more so, speaking what was on my mind," Caesar said with a chuckle.

"You never answered me, what are you about to do?" Renee continued to pester while attempting to escape Caesar's hug, even going as far as to embed her long nails in his back. Unfortunately, however, Caesar still didn't let go, but instead, held her tighter.

"Your father is going to eradicate the spies tonight… stay in your room and make sure you have someone capable to help protect you" Caesar finally opened up, he was trying to wait for the right moment, but with Renee's continued questions, he decided to tell her now.

"You're capable, no?" Renee asked strangely, insinuating that Caesar would be the one to be in their room and protect her, but Caesar could only smile wryly in response. He wanted to stay, but he couldn't let go of this opportunity.

"I-" before Caesar could even let one-word escape from his mouth, Renee put her finger on his lips and chuckled coyly, "I'm just kidding, you're going to go do something against the trolls, right? Do you really think I'd be mad if you went to help defeat the trolls? I am not so selfish as to risk the well-being of my entire clan over some trivial matter," Renee said, but Caesar still caught the sadness hidden deep within her eyes.

Caesar wanted to rebuke her in some way, but he couldn't. Thus, he let her off his embrace, and they stared at each other in silence for a few moments. This scene was captured by most of those present, and they all figured it was some kind of pillow talk.

"What I said earlier, it’s a promise," Caesar said curtly before turning away and walking towards the mansion. The trolls who knew that the fox-kin were currently holding a tournament, were undoubtedly more off-guard than usual. Not to mention the fact that he got the 'general' position from Musashi, which made it possible for him to implement his plans.

"Be careful!" Renee said, worriedly from behind him. It would be a lie to say that she didn't want him to stay longer, however, as his partner, she knew that it would be selfish and cruel of her to ask him to stay.

Caesar didn't reply, but instead, he gave her a thumbs-up and quickened his pace. Soon leaving the training grounds and the cheerful atmosphere in it. From behind him, a slightly short figure with two cuffed prisoners followed.

This was naturally Rakan, who had been waiting on the sidelines until Caesar was alone. He walked with swift and short strides until finally, he arrived just a few inches away from Caesar, who halted his footsteps.

Rakan took a moment to catch his breath, "Soka informed me that you wanted these prisoners to be present?" he asked strangely with a long breath between each word.

Caesar turned around and faced Rakan, "change of plans, put them back in prison and kill them tonight… make sure no one sees you do it," Caesar said curtly before resuming his pace.

Caesar knew that Rakan was, by no means, someone with strong morals. In fact, any of the warriors within the fox-kin clan would gladly kill the two traitors. Maybe for revenge, or just pure anger, either way, the both of them dying tonight, would make it more believable that the trolls came and infiltrated.

"Very well," Rakan replied nonchalantly from behind Caesar, and the two traitorous fox-kin from behind him shivered in fear. Fortunately, they were currently gagged, or they would be screaming for help right about now.

With Rakan's reply, Caesar's smiled widened, and within the time it takes to brew a cup of coffee, he arrived at the mansion. He transversed the heavily guarded gate with relative ease and soon arrived in front of his room.

He opened the door and immediately headed towards his closet to find a suitable outfit. He needed something that was capable of hiding his long and eye-catching silver hair; it was times like these, that Caesar wished there were things like dye in this world.

Covert missions with the very discernible white hair, was, after all, quite tricky. Thankfully, Caesar found an entirely black outfit with tight black pants, black gloves, black overcoat, and a strange mask that he found on Renee's side of the closet.

He adorned the outfit and put his hair in the coat. He then placed the mask on his face, which further cloaked his discernible facial features. It was a fully black mask with many red engravings. There didn't appear to be a distinct pattern. However, it looked quite menacing.

Once Caesar was done preparing, he quietly left the room and mansion, making sure no one spotted him on his way out.

He had contemplated talking with the furbolg’s' before his departure, alas, he figured that it would be better to speak to them after they recuperate for a while. But for now, he had much more pressing matters to attend to.

Thinking to here, a red light radiated from the slits of the mask on Caesar's face as he swiftly soared through the air, towards the forest.

  CHAPTER THIRTY

The bright moonlight illuminated Caesar's lonely figure, which was quickly moving through the dense forest. He headed east, in the direction of the troll stronghold. He adorned a full set of black garbs, and a strange mask covered his face, only his vibrant red eyes were visible.

A large number of dark clouds amassed in the sky above, and a few flashes of lightning struck the nearby ground, creating an extremely gloomy atmosphere. Soon, small droplets of water rained down upon Caesar and soaked his clothes.

This, however, didn't halt his fast movement in the slightest. His feet didn't even appear to touch the ground. He moved so fast, only the deep footprints left in his wake were discernible. Even the beasts that lived deep within the forest seemingly didn't care to bother Caesar, nor were they even capable of doing so.

Caesar continued with this quick pace for another two hours, until finally, he reached the outskirts of what h
e presumed to be, the troll stronghold. Their walls were made of some kind of stone and were a tad bit higher than the fox-kin walls. There was a guard responsible for every three feet on the walls.

Large wooden spikes were embedded deep within the ground next to the gates, and even a drawbridge was present. Even a fool could tell that the troll stronghold's defenses were much more prominent and effective in comparison to the fox-kin.

With a mere glance, Caesar was quickly able to distinguish the fact that the trolls' as a race, were far from being intelligent enough to accomplish this feat alone. Although this was merely speculation, it wasn't often that Caesar's theories were wrong.

He didn't dwell on the topic much longer and stealthily circled around the vigorous walls, trying to pinpoint the spot where he could infiltrate the easiest. He concealed his mana the best he could, in case there was a strong opponent within the premise, and soon discovered a relatively unguarded area at the southernmost point.

As it was the least likely place to be attacked, the trolls clearly didn't place as much importance on the particular area, in comparison to their other fronts. The blue, tall, and lean trolls that were sitting atop the walls were nearly falling asleep, and they numbered only around 10.

Seeing this, Caesar briefly surveyed the surroundings one more time, just in case, and then took out one small dagger. It was an average steel dagger, painted black, entirely concealed within the dead of night.

After preparing himself, he approached the wall, albeit quietly, and crouched down. He waited a few seconds before jumping off the ground and immediately launching a few meters upwards. Because he wanted to be as covert as possible, once he soared halfway to the top, he stabbed the dagger into the wall and once again launched himself up. He was soon reaching the top of the walls.

His abrupt appearance caused the trolls in front of him to momentarily stare wide-eyed. Unfortunately, their moment of hesitation was all it took for Caesar to reach one of the trolls and stab him in the neck with his knife.

Red blood gushed out from the troll's neck and splattered on to Caesar's mask; however, his movements didn't stop. The weak and tired trolls, before they could even let out a sound, were one by one, slashed in the neck.

Within a mere seven seconds, the ten trolls were eradicated. Their blood flowed like a river, and Caesar didn't hesitate to kick their bodies off the walls. Once that was finished, he shifted his attention to the insides of the walls and couldn't help but admire the sight.

Instead of tents, like the fox-kin. They had an assortment of houses, inner walls, and even a large amount of training facilities. On the right side, there appeared to be a large farm and considerable food storage.

In the middle, just like the fox-kin, resided a grandiose mansion. Caesar observed the surroundings for a few more seconds before jumping down the wall and heading to the right side of the stronghold. He didn't come here just to assassinate some trolls, no, he wanted to deal far more damage than that.

With this in mind, he quickened his pace and made sure he traveled through inconspicuous areas, as to not get spotted by the patrolling guards. After a few minutes, he finally arrived at the large farm that was currently unmanned. Although Caesar didn't quite understand why they would leave their main food supply unguarded, he wasn't one to complain.

He wasn't capable of using fire magic. However, his ice magic would suffice. He put his hand on the ground and didn't hesitate to use half of his mana supply to freeze the crops, roots, and even soil completely. A considerable amount of bluish mist escaped from the once luscious farm, and the only thing left was a frozen wasteland.

Thankfully, the loud thunder and raindrops somewhat cloaked Caesar's actions, but it wouldn't be long until the trolls caught sight of their ruined farm. Thinking to here, Caesar quickly rushed out of the area and headed towards the middle of the troll stronghold.

If Caesar was being candid, he had already achieved his goal. He simply wanted to destroy their intake of food, and give them a little scare. This would inadvertently shake them up, and if Caesar continuously did this, they would be forced to sleep with one eye open.

However, he suddenly remembered the fact that there were no female trolls, and that they relied on the females of other races to procreate, similar to goblins and orcs. Thus, if he were to find their 'breeding grounds' so to speak, he could potentially put many women out of their misery, while also doing some damage to the trolls.

Although Caesar didn't think that the trolls kept all of their women in one spot, which would be utterly idiotic, he still thought there was a spot they held a decent amount of their captives. The only problem would be locating the said location.

Thinking to here, Caesar jumped on top of a nearby building that was made out of wood and crouched down. It stood about four meters, and the moonlight barely pierced through the thick clouds and illuminated Caesar's figure.

'It appears this is going to be easier than expected,' Caesar thought inwardly while observed a small group of trolls who were tidying up their pants after exiting a relatively large building just a couple dozen meters away from him.

A red tarp was draped across the wide doorway, and a large stream of trolls entered and exited, as if it was some tourist attraction. The trolls that entered carried sinister and lustful smiles, while the ones that existed contained satisfied and lukewarm expressions.

"Animals…" Caesar couldn't help but whisper under his breath after witnessing such a scene. His black cloak fluttering in the faint moonlight as he hopped off the house he was sitting on.

  CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE

Caesar hesitated a moment before slowly approaching the busy building. He hadn't thought that there would be so many trolls present; however, since they were in the middle of a war, it wasn't surprising that they sought sexual relief.

He jumped atop a building just parallel of his destination; it was somewhat ragged and didn't look as pristine as the other buildings. It was made of brittle wood, and Caesar could hear faint breathing from inside.

It didn't sound anything like a grown troll, but more so like a child. With these thoughts in mind, Caesar couldn't help but get flashbacks to the time he found Elizabeth, and soon, an intense curiosity assaulted him, and he stealthily walked through the entrance.

He pushed the flimsy tarps that covered the doorway aside and entered. The old wood creaked with every step, and he soon arrived in what he assumed to be, the living-room. He glanced around and couldn't find anything noteworthy until finally, he gazed upon what he had heard earlier.

Lying in the middle of the room, were two small figures snoring loudly while sharing a wide blanket. He couldn't see their faces vividly, as it was dark, and they were sleeping in a weird angle, but he could easily discern that they were young children.

The one on the left was female, while the one on the right was male, presumably siblings. They shared no visible features to the trolls, and no matter how Caesar looked at it, they appeared to be either humans or some other kind of human-like race.

"Mmm, mom, are you back already?" the young girl asked lazily while lifting her upper body and rubbing her sleepy eyes. Her movement awoke the young lad to her side, and he also stood to his feet.

They both silently observed the fluttering fabric in the doorway, and the only sounds that they could hear were the loud raindrops and occasional thunder. Confusion filled the eyes of the young lass as she looked around the room.

Caesar, who was in an inconspicuous corner, hiding within the dark, couldn't help but admire her instincts. He moved rather stealthily, yet he still awoke the young lass. This was, by no means, a coincidence.

"Sis, are you sure mum's back?" the young boy asked curiously, he appeared to be a few years younger than the girl. He had rare blue hair and yellow eyes, that were eye-catching, even within the dark.

"I know someone walked in here… mother taught me to always follow my gut feeling" the young girl replied with confidence and walked closer to where Caesa
r currently resided. She also had blue hair and yellow eyes, even at her age, it was clear that she would grow up to be a beauty.

Caesar calmly observed them for a few more moments before walking out and presenting himself. He still had his ominous mask on, and the two youngsters jumped up in fright at his appearance.

They didn't scream, but instead, shook fearfully, especially the young girl. They stayed like this for a few seconds, before finally, tears flowed down the lass's face and she begrudgingly opened up her thin lips.

"M-mother told me that you people wouldn't touch me until I was t-thirteen… she told me that she made a deal with you guys," she said while choking on her tears. Her eyes, however, betrayed the tears falling from her eyes.

Caesar could see that she was glancing at a sharp stick in the corner of the room while clutching her brother's hand tightly. He speculated that their mother was captured and that she formed some sort of deal with the trolls to keep them alive.
